Whilst struggling to figure out what the hell were my best pop songs of 2012, i realized that this year has been one of the best years for pop ever. And i’m not talking about that momentary Billboard fodder that’s huge one year and nothing the next! Hitmakers such as FUN and IMAGINE DRAGONS proved that you can do the job with integrity. And i would never have expected MUSE to be on one of my pop lists one day! PINK, again, showed her consistency.
But there’s others you may not know at all – like LADYHAWKE who, despite being at #7, had the most consistent album (Anxiety) of them all. PLAN B’s concept rap album, ill Manners, was another highlight. I could’ve chosen something more uptempo from that but instead went with the seriously disturbing ‘Pity the Plight’. The kids needs help – this song rams that point home. The KONGOS prove that South Africa still makes some of the best music in the world. #1 goes to newcomers YOUNGBLOOD HAWKE who made the best song for summer. Enjoy…
