With the album Dead Set on Living, Canadian act, the CANCER BATS, rally against arseholes, addiction and much more. “There’s a special place in hell for people like you,” screams Liam Cormier in ‘R.A.T.S.’ It’s a vigorous indictment of traitors, a glowing testimony to hardcore punk being powerfully alive.

Metal guitars chug in ‘Bricks and Mortar’ and groove in the wonderfully evil ‘The Void’. Vocals, in slower delivery, make for menace in ‘Breathe Armageddon’. Shouted backing vocals are effective, especially on ‘Dead Set On Living’. These elements may be most notable here but they are also found in many places on the album.
