Humankind is in constant denial of its nature. These twisted videos emphasize that point. Some are artistically done whilst others are purely out to shock you. That means that they appeal to something deep inside of us, something that’s simultaneously dark and colourful…something altogether Human.
Music and videos do not cause people to commit crime. We live in a world of school massacres, family murders, serial killers and warring religions. These videos, like that violence, show the true heart of Man, the one that he denies or hides.
APHEX TWIN is well known in the underground. Their videos are created by insane intelligence. Play ‘Come to Daddy’ as loud as you can and try tell me that your tummy doesn’t tighten as it has for some of the best horrors you’ve watched. ‘Rubber Johnny’ (i included 2 of theirs) is disturbia of a different kind. Considering it’s use of light and shadow, i highly suggest that you watch this one with all the lights off so that you get the full effect of the mutant boy and his “WTF” Chihuahua.
SALEM’s ‘Piggyhog’ is on the opposite side of the spectrum. It could be interpreted as Man being an animal, rutting with a pig to produce offspring that is abandoned whilst the parents relationship stagnates like death. Instead, realism is that i don’t know what happened and that it’s deeply, disturbing shit. And so it goes…
