On April 20, the birthday of Hitler, a magnitude 7 earthquake devastated Sichuan, a rural area in China. So far (April 23), there are 192 deaths, more than 11000 injured and 100 000 people without homes. This may be less than the 70 000 (many children as the schools collapsed) who died in the same province in 2008 but the tragedy is deeply saddening. I swiped the pictures below to remind you that life is damn fragile…so live it the best you can.
Poor Feng Jiamei! 7 months pregnant when 5 men from the Chinese authorities held her down, with a pillow over her head, and aborted her baby with injections through her belly into the baby’s head. Earlier this month, the central bank of Zimbabwe introduced a ZWD$50 billion bank note. A mate of mine showed me one yesterday morning so i quickly snapped a photo so i could share it with you. Zimbabwe’s is the most devalued currency in history, making it exceedingly volatile so that it’s hard to tell you what you can buy with it i.e. last week may have been 5 loaves of bread, this week could be one (no exaggerations).
