THE CURE were the first band i loved. I knew their hits first. Along with my schoolmates (Deon, Terry and Brad), i use to loudly sing tracks such as ‘Killing an Arab’ and ‘Hot Hot Hot’. But it was during the personal darkness of national service in the South African Air Force in 1991 that i got to know the band and Robert Smith’s lyrics more intimately.
