Ignore the jittery camera – listen to the song!
I’d never heard of the band TRIBES before today yet they gave me exactly the warm music i needed for the moment i was lacking within.
Ironically (because of my love for clever music), modern music has gotten too clever. Intricacies and layers is often what separates indie pop and metal, for example, from the shallow shit of most charting music. But, often, they lack soul. Where TRIBES differ is that they remind me of what made me love music in the first place, those songs called friends that i wanted to sing-a-long with. TRIBES makes rock music with heart, toned in the early Nineties where bands such as Screaming Trees and Soul Asylum ventured from the underground to radio because of melody that retained the sincerity of their roots.
3 songs can be found in their studio form on their debut album, Baby. ‘Coming of Age’ derives from their first E.P., We Were Children. I’m glad for this live version because it will vie for my best rock song of the year!
This free, 4-tracker from TRIBES is simply called the Live E.P. I highly recommend that you trade your edress for this and play it on repeat the whole day.
