On April 20, the birthday of Hitler, a magnitude 7 earthquake devastated Sichuan, a rural area in China. So far (April 23), there are 192 deaths, more than 11000 injured and 100 000 people without homes. This may be less than the 70 000 (many children as the schools collapsed) who died in the same province in 2008 but the tragedy is deeply saddening. I swiped the pictures below to remind you that life is damn fragile…so live it the best you can.

In my home town of Knysna in South Africa, our local government, as announced by Mayor Georlene Wolmarans, took the bizarre action of extending our liquor hours – bars can open at 7.30am and liquor stores are now allowed open on Sunday.
